Background
EgretNews.com is an online newspaper which started in 2010, writing in Swahili and English on news happening in the Great Lakes region and beyond — aimed at the inhabitants of the region and those in the diaspora. Over the years we have grown into a multilingual platform serving readers across Africa and around the world.
Objective
Our main objective is to create an alternative newspaper to the local dailies where we publish the news which does not get airtime in mainstream media publications. We also seek to create awareness among our readers by creating a forum through which ideas and suggestions in politics and development strategies are shared.
Vision
Our vision is to become a fully-fledged media house dealing not only with print publication but also to establish a media house dealing in Radio and TV — serving the Great Lakes region and reaching the African diaspora worldwide with independent, accurate and timely journalism.
