The Lessons of Hiroshima, 80 Years Later
This month marks the 80th anniversary of the use of nuclear weapons to end World War II. Two atomic bombs destroyed two Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, sending shockwaves all the way to Emperor Hirohito’s bunker in Tokyo, where he told his military staff he would no longer sacrifice his country and its civilians in a war that was destroying his nation.
Israeli MKs: Taiwan Must Be Included in International Organizations
The MKs are calling for Taiwan’s meaningful participation in global bodies, with a particular emphasis on health, transportation, environmental protection, and human rights. The declaration, signed at the end of July, praises Taiwan as “a vibrant democracy committed to promoting the values of freedom, equality, human rights, and the rule of law, all in a challenging geopolitical environment.”
